Studying or working abroad: education documents from India
The Indian education documents you may need for study or work abroad, such as transcripts, degree certificates, MOI letters and WES evaluation, and how to get them without flying back.
Updated 30 October 2026
Universities, employers and evaluators such as WES usually want official transcripts in a sealed envelope, your degree certificate, and sometimes a Medium of Instruction letter. Start early: Indian universities can take weeks, and evaluators reject documents that aren't sent exactly the way they ask.
What to do
- Check exactly what your university, employer or evaluator asks for, and in what format.
- Request official transcripts, sealed and signed, from your university.
- Collect your degree certificate, or apply for a duplicate if it is lost.
- Get a Medium of Instruction letter if you need an English-language waiver.
- Get documents attested or apostilled if the destination country asks.
